Mozilla temporary suspends Firefox Send feature

Mozilla temporary suspends Firefox Send service due to malware abusing the system. Bad guys were abusing the system by planting the malware in it. The service was used as malware host with secure end-to-end encryption.

Mozilla Send service was officially launched in March of 2019. Originally service main goal was to give ability to host and share private files securely. You can select the hosted file time availability period or limit the max number of downloads.

Bad guys saw the possibility to use the tool in their favor. This was very attractive file host choice because all files are hosted in secured Firefox cloud. This encrypted data was hard enough to detect and identify the malware.

Firefox planning to reopen the file send feature after security improvements. The abuse reporting mechanism should be introduced also.
